Letter from Hartfield leadership
One of the greatest concerns surrounding the formation of a new school like Hartfield centers on the affiliation of the school for extra-curricular activities like athletics and various scholastic competitions. After conversations with leaders from both the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) and the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA), as well as conversations with current Pinelake Christian School and University Christian School leadership and many parents and families, the Hartfield Board has decided to be affiliated with the MHSSA for the 2012-2013 academic year. The decision to continue the relationship began by UCS hinged on two primary considerations: • Only by continuing the relationships with the MHSAA for the 2012-2013 school year could our athletic teams be assured of eligibility for playoffs and championships. • Additionally, continuing the relationship with the MHSAA honors the commitment made by the UCS Board last year. In October 2012, we will make a permanent decision on the future affiliation of Hartfield in conjunction with the normal evaluation process of both MHSAA and MAIS. Until then, we will continue to evaluate the benefits of each organization in an effort to determine which affiliation best suits the overall goals and needs of the Hartfield family.
